Clarke was a British science fiction writer and inventor, who is widely regarded as a key figure in the popularisation of space travel. His screenplay for the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, which was co-written with Stanley Kubrick, is considered to be one of the most influential films of all time. For many years Arthur C. Clarke, along with Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asmiov, were considered the 'Big Three' of science fiction writing. The Deep Range is based on a short story that was originally published in the American pulp magazine Argos. It tells the tale of a futuristic sub-mariner who catches an animal similar to the kraken. The work also makes reference to Herman Melville's novel Moby-Dick. Condition: In a blue cloth binding in the original price clipped dustwrapper. Externally very smart, with just some slight wear to the extremities. Booksellers stamp of 'McGills Newsagency' to front free endpaper. Dustwrapper is price clipped. Dustwrapper is smart, with some chipping and creasing to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Handling marks and the odd spot to the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with just the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages and the fore-edge. Overall Condition: Very Good Indeed in a Very Good dustwrapper.
