Binding is slightly shaky. Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends with small splits. Light tanning to spine and edges. Scuffing and light marking overall. Book is slightly forward leaning. Minor white and brown stained marks to boards.

London - Smith, Elder and Co., 1912 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. A book on military history. The twenty-seventh edition of this work. With a frontispiece, numerous portraits and several plans. Formed from articles written by Fitchett originally published in The Argus under the same name. Once published in book form it ran into 35 printings and about 250,000 copies were sold. W H Fitchett wrote many military and journalistic works these include Fights for the Flag, Wellington's Men and Nelson and His Captains. Condition: In a full calf binding with gilt stamping to spine. Externally, smart with patches of rubbing to the head and tail of spine and to the extremities. Small cracks to head of spines. Binder's stamp to verso of front endpaper, Spottiswoode and Co. Gift inscription to recto of front endpaper dated 1914. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout. Overall: VERY GOOD..
