Cardinal de la Luzerne’s post-Revolution defense of the Gallican Articles that outlined the supremacy of the French monarchy and French church hierarchy over papal authority in many ecclesiastical matters. The Gallican Articles arose during the power struggle between French King Louis XIV and Pope Innocent XI. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 495 pages .
