Publishers white paper wraps printed in blue and black. Original glassine around the wraps. A lovely copy, and scarce in such nice condition, of the first printing of Beckett's translation. Although written during 1944, Watt wasn't published until 1953 and it was another 15 years before he completed this much anticipated French translation.

Jonathan Cape. London. 1963. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (7.7 x 5.2 inches). The Authors first novel. Neat three line inscription (interestingly from a J. Fowles, but not the author) on the front blank endpaper, otherwise a very good copy in a very good dustwrapper with some light rubbing to the extremities and marking to the rear panel but still overall an acceptable and collectable copy.

Spine with raised bands. Compartments with ruled lines, decorations and lettering, all in gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. A Fine copy.

Oxford University Press. London. 1958. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (8.8 x 5.8 inches). Superbly illustrated with 27 line drawings by Einzig. A handful of pages with a light brown mark to the bottom of the page, otherwise a fresh and clean copy, finely bound in recent full dark blue morocco. Spine with raised bands, the compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Twin black morocco labels, ruled and lettered in gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. Top edge gilt. A lovely copy of this classic.

Sylvia Beach. Shakespeare and Company. Paris. 1929. FIRST TRADE EDITION. 8vo. (7 x 5.6 inches). Page edges tanned, as usual, a small stain to the fore edge of the first handful of pages and a few minor chips to the edges of a few leaves, otherwise a very good example in the original cream coloured paper wraps, printed in black to spine and both covers. Some loss to the top of the spine, but not affecting the lettering, and a small closed tear and some minor chipping to the extremities. Paper a bit toned and rubbed but overall a presentable copy. There was also a limited edition of 96 numbered copies on thicker verge d'Arches paper issued simultaneously with this issue. This early critique of Joyce's final work was published some 10 years prior to the publication of the finished novel. Part of the incentive to publish was apparently to raise funds for the perennially impecunious Joyce. A fine set of true first editons of this hugely popular trilogy. There is some confusion about a probable trial issue dustwrapper for the first title, with no advance praise notices on the lower panel and lacking the blue capital letter 'A' at the start of the blurb inside the front flap. This wrapper was not officially issued with the published book. The first edition wrapper, as issued on day of publication, has the price of $21.00 on the inner front flap and the number code '5/92' at the bottom of the inner rear flap. The wrapper on All the Pretty horses in this set has both of these points.

(7.7 x 5.4 inches). 336pp. No publisher on title page, just the date year printed on the verso and a stuck in paper label of Caves Book Co. on rear blank free endpaper. The title page has the title, author name and blurb 'at this point, it looked like curtains for james bond; he was skimping on his work, gambling, wenching, and on the edge of becoming a security risk' (sic). Blue cloth binding with silver lettering to the spine. Publishers sewn-in blue silk bookmark. The dustwrapper is printed in blue to the front panel, showing Bond holding his gun, between lettering and a target design. Spine lettered in blue. No other printing to the wrapper. ----- A rare curiosity.

A very small amout of spoting to the fore edge but overall a clean and bright copy. Finely bound in recent full deep red morocco, spine with raised bands, gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. Top edge gilt. A light stain to the very top of some pages but overall this is a lovely copy in an attractive leather binding.
