About This Item

(New York): Penguin Books, 1977. Softcover. Near Fine. Reprint of the 1967 Viking edition. Pages very lightly age-toned, scrape on spine affecting the word "Salesman", still a near fine copy. Signed by the Arthur Miller on the title page. Containing the actual play along with criticisms, reviews, essays and analogues. This being one of the classics of American drama and basis for a number of film and television versions with Fredric March, Lee J. Cobb, Rod Steiger, Dustin Hoffman, and Brian Dennehy, among others, assaying the role of salesman Willy Loman.

Synopsis

Hailed as the first great play to lay bare the emptiness of America's relentless drive for material success, Death of a Salesman is Miller's classic portrait of an ordinary man's struggle to leave his mark on the world.
