FIRST EDITION FIRST ISSUE (1881), small 4to, 250 x 215 mm, 9¾ x 8¼ inches, pages: (5), 6-29, (1), green cloth backed light green glazed boards, bevelled edges, 4 yellow sunflowers design, black and yellow ruled borders, all edges green, mid green endpapers, coloured frontispiece, colour illustrated title page and 29 pages of very pretty coloured illustrations to songs, mostly with music. Corners and board edges slightly worn, head and tail of spine just slightly rubbed, boards lightly marked and with a few very light hair-line scratches, slight small graze to cream panel on lower cover, not affecting lettering, front inner paper hinge repaired with archival tape (see image), neat early ink inscription on front pastedown, a few minute ink spots on second blank front endpaper, tiny light spot to background of page 6, tiny ink mark to background of page 10 (Contents table), closed tear 55 mm (2¼") to inner margin of 4 leaves (pages 17-24), each repaired expertly on verso, just affecting border illustration on page 17, no loss (see images), otherwise affecting margins only (seems a production flaw), very small closed tear to final blank leaf facing rear endpaper, contents clean.
