About This Item
New York: George Sully & Company, 1918. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Tan cloth with red lettering and black, grey and red pictorial stamping. 280pp, (3pp ads). Frontispiece. Very good. Mild edgewear and a bit of spotting and light soiling, with spine slightly age toned. A tight and quite nice reprint edition, repackaged and somewhat retitled, of the second title in the earlier "Deep Seas" series (1905-07). Sully reprinted the first three of these four volumes and combined one character's name (Dave Fearless) with the original titles to make this hybrid -- this title and the first and third retitled "Deep Sea" titles are all listed on the copyright page. Still a superb copy of an uncommon title, with great front board graphics depict a sailship charging toward the viewer. See Mattson and Davis 22100 and 21700.
