New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1890. Two volumes; 547 & 540 pages in very good condition; edges a little yellowed and soiled. Each volume is profusely illustrated with plates, figures and steel engraving frontispiece. 3 folding maps in "pockets at back" are listed in Table of Contents. We have 4 maps (duplicates of 2 listed) and are missing the map of The Great Forest Region. A long, interesting inscription in pencil is in volume 1; could be erased. Green hardcovers with gilt titles and portrait on the spines. Embossed map of Africa on the front covers, with gilt titles. Corners lightly bumped, covers and spines a little scuffed. Bindings very tight. VG+. First Edition. Hardcover. VG+.
