Text and images were printed using photopolymer plates and reduction linoleum blocks. Fonts are Optima Bold and Gill Sans Light. Handbound in quarter-cloth with cover paper of handmade walnut dyed flax. 3.5 x 3.5" illustration inset of quilted papers, which were designed with the artist's mother. Suzanne Sawyer: "The legacy of quilting is ubiquitous in American history, so much so that it has lost some of the meaning it once held. But its history is rich and perhaps best typified in African American culture such as with the quilters of Gee's Bend. It was inspired by the red mangroves off the coast of Florida, which serve as the nursery for countless forms of flora and fauna. "The poem was written by Eder J. Williams in 2011. Sauk City, WI: Arkham House, 1972 A volume of poetry. One of just 500 copies that Arkham printed (and which sold out very quickly). This copy was signed (not inscribed) by the author. There are no remainder marks, no price-clipping, no bumped edges. However, there is soiling to the front and rear of the jacket. Overall, a nice copy of a scarce title. Comes in a Brodart protective cover. All books are bubble-wrapped and placed in a sturdy shipping box when mailed.

Rare first issue of this important little magazine featuring a stellar roster of contributors, including Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray as well as Beat notables including Burroughs (Schottlaender C13), Corso, Ferlinghetti, et al. Unmarked copy with significant bumps and some general wear.

The Chicago poet's scarce second publication consists of two poems, "Black against the Muthafuckas" dedicated to UMOJA Student Center and The Chicago Student March and "Poem for Malcolm Memorial '69." Born in Bronzeville, Rodgers participated in writing workshops sponsored by Brooks and she was an active member of the Organization of Black American Culture. Chicago: Third World Press, 1969. 15 x 23 cm. Single piece of card, folded and printed on four sides. First edition. Slightly toned, creasing, 1cm intact tear to edge.. In very good condition.
