This is a profusely illustrated and fully documented account of the resistance to the Hitler régime in one German city, Dortmund. A surprising number of people were persecuted, among them clergy, youth, members of various social groups, workers, communists, and intellectuals. The Steinwache was a prison in which many of them were incarcerated; it is now a memorial to their sacrifices and is a very poignant place to visit.

Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Batty (1789-1848) army officer and artist Batty compiled books illustrated with plates etched by himself. He served in the Peninsular War, in the Duke of Wellington's 1815 Campaign, at Waterloo, where he was injured in the thigh. "Following Wellington's victory, Batty entered Paris with the 3rd battalion on 7 July, having en route been at the storming of the fortress of Péronne on 26 June. This is an exceptionally maintained Book published in 1904. It is a Biography of William II, the Emperor of Germany. The Author, Marguerite Cunliffe-Owens, remained anonymous and did not include her name anywhere on this Book as she had done with several of her other Books. This Book has 282 pages and 16 illustrations. This Book also includes a signature by Emperor William dated 1903 under his photo in the frontispiece.
