Hubert Ripka (1885 - 1958) was a Czechoslovakian politician and author of non-fiction political history books. Ripka began his career as a newspaper journalist and was also an advisor to Edvard Benes, the president of Czechoslovakia. Beginning in 1940, (while living in England) Ripka served as Secretary of State for the Czech government in exile. In 1945, he returned to Czechoslovakia and became Minister for Foreign Trade. Ripka fled Czechoslovakia in 1948 when the communists rose to power. Ex-library with typical treatments, some blacked out. Sticky area on back cover where label was removed.
