Slight crinkling to paper at gutter. Clean pages with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. Tightly bound with faint thumb marking throughout. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is bright and clear.

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1912. Ex-library with typical treatments. Professionally rebound in maroon cloth. A poor quality repair was done with rubber cement to secure the first signature (it is sewn in, but is loose.) Some chipping to first few pages prior to the preface. Maroon cloth boards are in extremely good condition (we speculate it has been rebound) with some adhesive residue where label on spine was. 492 pages to this Volume I, followed by a section of publishers other items. Some soil to outside pages. We noted pencil marks or brackets in the margins of three pages. Booksellers marks on title page.
