Illustrated sections on various secret societies, including the Freemasons, the Black Hand, and six pages on the KKK (including two lynching photos). Text in French. Also included are two heavily foxed issues from 1936 and 1939. French satirical magazine begun by Galtier-Boissiere in the trenches of WWI. The title is derived from trench warfare black humor meaning a combination of "the little toad" & "small trench mortar
