About This Item
Caldwell, ID: The Caxton Printers, Ltd, 1941. Hardcover. Foreword by Sherwood Anderson. Appendix Cowboy Dance Tunes arranged by Frederick Knorr. Small 4to. Tan cloth with red and blue lettering and pictorial stamping. 397pp. Frontispiece, illustrations, pictorial endpapers. Very good. Faint edgewear only; ownership name/address inked on front pastedown. Tight, quite attractive fifth printing of this thick study (first published 1939). Interestingly, auto magnate Henry Ford of all people is thanked in the acknowledgments for use of a song/dance in one of his publications -- and this copy bears tipped to inner flyleaf a Typed Note Signed from Henry Ford's aide H.M. McConnell on Ford's personal letterhead, 1p, 7¼" X 10½", Dearborn, MI, 17 January 1944. Addressed to Elizabeth Hanley. Very good. Original folds. Sends two leaflets (tipped to facing half-title page) in which she can purchase the dance manual "Good Morning." One of the leaflets is entitled "Records of Early American Dances as Revived by Mr. & Mrs. Henry Ford."
