Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807 - 1882) was a great American poet and educator whose works include "Paul Revere's Ride," The Song of Hiawatha, and Evangeline, which remain mainstays of national culture. He was also the first American to translate Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, and was one of the five Fireside Poets from New England. VERY GOOD overall condition: tight, internally clean without underlinging or related marginalia. Bright unfoxed plates. Moderate wear and soil to the cloth; previous owner's neat inscription and bookplate on frontal endpapers.
