Each time period has acknowledgement at the beginning of the segment, with an index for all periods covered at the rear. The text is illustrated with black and white line drawings, black and white photographs and illustrations. Each section within the time frame has a specialist author. Rose coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. In this monumental tome, the art, architecture, decorative arts etc. of the Tudor Period 1500-1603, Stuart Period 1603-1714, Early Georgian Period  1714-1760, Late Georgian Period  1760-1810, Regency Period, Early Victorian Period 1830-1860, are given. The book was printed as three separate books from 1956 to 1958, and, this is the first combined volume. Rubbing of the book edges and panels. Patchy fading to the book panels and backstrip. Lower book corners are bumped. Age toning and some marking of the text block edges. The lower right-hand corner of the text for the first few pages has been dogeared stop very light age toning and marking of the end pages.
