London: Swan Sonnenschein & Co., 1892. Hardcover. Fair. Red cloth-covered boards are mottled and splotchy, but title and author in black are clear. Cloth is worn at top and bottom spine edges and front corner tips. Gilt lettering on spine still has some shine. Front board has a few tiny pin-head-size spots of white. Front paste down and free front endpaper are split at binding. Previous owner's bookplate in on inside of front board. Previous bookstore's stamp is on free front endpaper. Pencil notation (not ours) on ffep states that "pages 113-128 are hanging by thread." This is true. Binding has several splits, but none of the pages are missing. Pages are unmarked and clean throughout. There are 4 pages after the index that list other books in a "Social Science Series."
