SIGNED and inscribed by the author (and his family?) on the half-title page. 8.5 x 10 in., 196 pages, illustrated throughout with Ethan Hoffman's photographs taken inside the Washington State Penitentiary. Hoffman was tragically killed in an accident several years later while on assignment. Hoffman's book stands alongside Danny Lyon's Conversations With The Dead as one of the great photo essays that deal with prison life.
