Philadelphia: Carson and Simpson, 1891. Beautifully bound edition of Shakespeare's works, edited by William Cullen Bryant and Evert A. Duyckinck. This edition of The Bryant Shakespeare is bound in full tooled leather, with gilt decoration on covers and spine. Five raised bands on each volume. Gilt border to endpapers. Gilt all edges. Impressive deluxe edition with 100 fine photogravure illustrations. Each volume measures 10 x 12 inches. Textblocks are very clean and crisp, minimal soil. Leather is generally intact and good condition, some minor chipping and wear to edges, each volume shows varying degrees of wear and chipping to upper and lower portions of spine, wear to hinges. Bindings are solid. Volume One: Comedies; Volume Two: Historical Plays; Volume Three: Tragedies and Poems.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Felix O.C. Darley and ALonzo Chappel.
