Edited, with an Introduction and Notes, by Ashley Gibson. Contemporary engravings of the principal places visited reproduced from Schultzen's Ost-Indische Reyse (Amsterdam, 1676). The edition limited to 300 copies printed in Perpetua type on Arnold's hand-made paper: this is no 277. 4to. 210pp, 6 double page plates (one a reproduction of two pages of the manuscript), endpaper maps from a contemporary Mercator atlas. Original cloth-backed batik boards, the corners a little rubbed. Bookplate of the press, and owner's small blind-stamp on preliminary blank. A little foxing on the endpapers, top edges dulled, otherwise a very good clean copy. ***Lacombe's travels took place in 1668-76. .

Double page plates, double page facsimile from original manuscript. 209, [1] pp. Bookplate of Herbert Eberhard Hering, a noted German-Brazilian bibliophile and book collector, appears on the inside front paste down. The black spine has a little nicking to the top and tail of the spine. Overall in good, clean condition though. Internally clean with a few foxing spots only. Text in English. 320 x 200 mm (12½ x 7¾ inches).
