About This Item
Chapman & Hall, London, 1938. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good/No Dust Jacket. XVI, 368 pages, last five pages blank, editorial preface, author's preface bibliography and index. The text is illustrated with numerous formulae and schematic drawings. Bright blue coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. " The commissioning of electrical plant covers a very wide area of the Electrical engineering field, and thus necessitates a thorough understanding of many practical and theoretical considerations. The behaviour of machines and apparatus, when put into commission for the first time, cannot completely be forecast, and although careful when you are checking and preparation of plans will usually result in trouble-free performance, the obtaining of the initial operating characteristics will in many respects provide the most important guide to successful performance and life. Possible troubles may thereby be anticipated and the appropriate remedies applied. " -- from the author's preface page IX. Part of the " A Series of Monographs on Electrical Engineering " under the general editorship of H. P. Young. Softening and very light rubbing to the head and to the heel of the back strip and to the book corners. Browning and a few marks to the text block edge. The front hinge has been reinforced with printers tape. Light browning to the end of papers and to the internal pages. A previous owner has placed their name to the title page and has also written, in pencil, " 2nd Edition 1946, 3rd Edition 1955, 4th Edition 1962 ", and then put a pencil mark through the lower one third of the title page and then wrote the words " Completely Recant ".
