Half leather black binding with dark blue cloth. Gilt lettering on spine together with gilt decorated raised bands. Three parts have detached front covers, and leather on other joints and corners is rubbed. Wear at spine ends. Internal binding is sound, pages are clean. Part number is hand written in red on each spine. Plates include coloured maps and black and white maps and illustrations, also black and white vignette illustrations.
