Published by Charles Tilt and David Bogue, London 1835-1853. Nine Volumes. 1835/1853., 1853. A complete run of these amusing volumes in finest smooth brown leather bindings, gilt raised bands with twin green and red title and illustrator labels to the spines, top edges gilt, marble end papers, gilt dentelles. 12mo 6½'' x 4¼''. 19 years / volumes bound into 9 volumes each with from 6-12 full-page monthly plates and other illustrations by Cruikshank, 4 with fold-out colour frontispieces (1850-1853), note the 1848-49 issue is a smaller 12mo format and is bound in as well, original wrappers bound-in with the advertisements. Provenance: John Croft Deverell, Sotheby's, 1937 with his armorial coat of arms bookplate inside each volume. Some of the hinges are weak and starting to open up. Member of the P.B.F.A.
