Stamped in shiny red metallic on the spine and front cover. Inspirational autobiography of major league baseball pitcher and cancer survivor Dave Dravecky, who starred for the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants. Selected for the All-Star game in July 1983, Dravecky pitched two scoreless innings for the National League. In October 1984 Dravecky made five relief appearances for the Padres in the National League championships and the World Series, pitching ten and two-third scoreless innings. After being traded to the San Francisco Giants, he beat the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 5-0 on October 7, 1987 in the National League championship series. From the Dust Jacket: "The story of... Dave Dravecky stands out as one of the greatest comebacks of all time. When his doctors removed a cancerous tumor from his pitching arm in October of 1988, they removed muscle as well and gave him near-zero chances of ever pitching again. On August 10, 1989, Dravecky pitched again. He won [going 8 innings and beating the Cincinnati Reds].". INSCRIBED / SIGNED by Dave Dravecky. Second printing. Hardcover. Fine condition/Very Good dust jacket. 8vo. 253pp. + 24 pages of photos.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
