Memoir of a pioneer family living on the Lambshead range of northwest Texas, near the Clear Fork of the Brazos River. This is the first University of Texas Press edition, folllowing the privately printed edtions of 1936 and 1958. Nicely inscribed by the author's son, the legendary wrangler Watt Matthews, described in New York Times obituary (1997) as "the last of his generation in one of the state's oldest and most prominent cattle families.
