Cologne: Cologne Society for Promoting Traffic. Very Good. (1914). Hardcover. 8vo - 23.5 x 15 cm.; 84 - [2] pp. Quarter bound with red morocco on spine and quarter boards with an off white leather on boards with black lettering on front. Printed on a hand made heavy weight woven paper, rough trimmed on the head and fore edges and deckled on the tail edge. Illustrated with 20 (all present and in a near fine condition) full colour reproduction water colours by Theo Blum of various views and aspects of the city of Cologne. Each reproduction measures 13.5 x 8.5 cm. and they are centered on their respective pages with a line border surrounding. The text is in English and the preface is by Carl Schellen, the chairman of the Cologne Society and the 15 articles are by various experts in their fields. The full membership of the Society is listed on page 10 of the text. Externally, the red morocco is rubbed and worn on the spine tips with small pulls (splits) at the top. The white leather is soiled with minor wear on the corners with bumps on the two tail edge corners. The interior is very clean with two small binding weaknesses noted at pages 8/9 and 72/73. A rather handsome book and delightfully designed. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. .
