The uncommon 1950 catalogue of the "Collection of the Societe Anonyme: Museum of Modern Art 1920", published by Yale University Art Gallery. THIS COPY HAS A LONG INSCRIPTION (at the front free endpaper) FROM KATHERINE DREIER TO HER FRIEND BERTHA VON ZASTROW AND IS SIGNED BY MARCEL DUCHAMP AS WELL. Laid into this copy is also a signed photograph of Katherine Dreier, a single sheet warmly inscribed from Katherine to Bertha von Zastrow and a very personal letter written from Katherine to Bertha. Also laid-in is a period copy of the June 30th, 1950 letter from Yale's President Charles Seymour to Katherine Dreier, thanking her profusely for the donation of the Societe Anonyme collection to Yale's Art Gallery and calling the donation "one of the great moments of my administration at Yale, indeed of my entire career". A clean, very solid copy to boot. Tight and Near Fine in its dark cloth, with crisp, completely unrubbed silver-titling along the front panel and spine. Quarto, dozens and dozens of black-and-white illustrations thruout the text detailing the collection. A wonderful piece of Modernist history.
