About This Item

Minneapolis: Soo Line Railroad Company, 1982. Soo Line Railroad was the U.S. subsidiary of the Canadian Pacific Railroad, formed in 1961 as the Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault Ste. Marie Railroad and undergoing a number of consolidations and changes in name and ownership into the 1980s and '90s; its lines operated mainly in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. Grouping of half a dozen items: 1.) Soo Liner -- The "Intermodal" Concept: Very much a part of Soo's future. 4to. Glossy wrappers. 15pp. Numerous illustrations, heavy stock centerfold "Santa Rides the Soo" map of the Soo Line. Near fine. Company magazine. 2.) News to Know: A Soo Liner Supplement. Small 4to. Self-cover. (4pp). Map. Fine. Newsletter. 3.) Soo Milwaukee System: Train Planning and Tonnage Profiles. Wide 64mo. Stiff red wrappers. (8pp). Two foldouts. Very good. 4.) 1983: Your Rail Gateway to America. Heavy stock 10½" X 8". Yearly calendar with "Dates of Holidays for Soo employees" marked. Very good. 5.) Soo Line Railroad: Warning Poisonous Fumes Heated Card. Heavy stock 9" X 8". Near fine. Broadside explaining danger, noting "One of these cards must be applied to door on each side of ever car equipped with methanol or charcoal heaters and card taken off when heaters are removed." 6.) Unused sheet of 7½" X 9½" lined "Soo Line Railroad" notebook paper. Near fine. Mildly age toned. A fine and unusual grouping of materials, only items #1 and #2 dated and last three items of earlier vintage. The "Warning Poisonous Fumes Heated Card" broadside is especially uncommon and picturesque.
