Newcastle: Printed for Emerson Charley. Very Good+. 1842. Hardcover. Handsome green leather over marbled boards with raised bands and gilt decorated spine panels & covers. Top edge gilt. Hinges and interior are tight, clean and intact. Marbled endpapers. Twenty-three annually issued pamphlets of angling verse published from 1820-1842. The first," The Angler's Progress", is dated 1820, the last, "Auld and Young", 1842. There are 2 issues from 1824. Book published with a title page and frontispiece portrait of illustrator, Thomas Bewick, then each poem is preceeded by a half-title & a title page with a vignette by Bewick and others. Poems by various authors including, Robert Roxby, William Gill Thompson and Joseph Crawhall. Bound in bookplate of "George Page Ely" of Lyme, Ct. (Spouse of noted bookbinder, Caroline Weir Ely) . Edges very lightly rubbed. Poetry, Angling ; Vignettes; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
