Fine. - A group of 8 signed & numbered woodcuts by John Lehman, each printed on fine paper and laid loose in a plain 10 inch high by 8-1/4 inch wide gray paper chemise. The prints include 2 black & white woodcuts, each measuring 6-1/2 inches high by 8-5/8 inches wide, each is annotated "Miniature Painters - Wash. 1977" in pencil along the bottom, possibly exhibited at a show in that city. Of the two black & white woodcuts, one of the images depicts trees on an island across from the Susquehanna River, within a mile from the artist's home. This image is numbered "15/36". The other depicts a rustic frame store building next to a barn located in Lee County, South Carolina. This image is numbered "21/30". Both prints are signed in pencil by John Lehman. The other 6 prints are color woodcuts on 9 inch by 8 inch fine paper. One of the images which depicts bare Winter trees is annotated "Miniature Painters, Groves - Washington D.C. 1975" in pencil along the bottom. This woodcut is numbered "13/25" and is signed in pencil by John Lehman. Three of the other 5 color woodcuts depict floral still lifes. These are limited to 50 copies each and are signed in pencil by the artist. Another color image, which depicts a garden within which grow several banners printed with the word "Hyacinth" in blue & red is also limited to 50 numbered copies signed by Lehman. The last, a subtle pastel color print depicts leaves. This image was printed with actual leaves against a background printed from a corn husk using a technique described by John Lehman in the December 1957 issue of "American Artist magazine". It is limited to 30 copies numbered and signed in pencil by John Lehman. Apart from one minor corner crease, all are in fine condition.
