Garden City, NJ: Garden City Publishing Company, 1929. Hardcover. Very Good. Signed by Jim Tully and inscribed to former owner (with her name partially erased), a friend of two friends of his, "Walter Words" (?) and Jim Cruze, a director whom Tully profiled in his popular columns on Hollywood collected in A Dozen and One, signed and dated 1929. 280pp. Red cloth with yellow stamping. Early reprint. Very Good, no dust jacket. Cloth worn at head and tail; small purple stamp of "New Age Information Service" with its address and motto on title page.
One of Tully's best semi-autobiographical novels, a very dark portrait of circus life as a hell-on-wheels for misfits and criminals (some good and some bad) under the yoke of an arch-capitalist swindling promoter.
