Charles Scribner's Sons, 1941. First Edition . Cloth. Fine/Fair. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. (1st) Very large, heavy book, fine red cloth with black lettering in black borders with illustration of cathedral on front, summary of Christian centuries with illustrations inside covers and adjacent end papers, tiny address label at bottom of first front end paper, 248 stiff lightly browned pages, short ink notes in margins of first 10 pages, over 200 illustrations. DJ has vertical stripes on front and spine in red, blue and black with illustration of cathedral, illustration with praise for religion books on back, white back very slightly soiled. DJ has tear or two to most edges. Fair DJ/Very Fine book.
