About This Item
Shanghai: Pub. by the General Evangelical Protestant missionary Society of Germany, 1902. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/None Issued. xvi, 250, xlv pages [comprising the 4 appendices]. Frontispiece (portrait) 25 cm. 8to. Rebound in modern black cloth, gilt spine lettering. Condition: bruised right and proper midway down the front edge causing the page edges to either rip or crinkle. This damage appears very slight when viewing the front edge and never gets close to text or illustrations on the page edges. Otherwise the condition of this book is pristine. The binding is virtually new, the pages show no foxing or markings, they lay smooth and untroubled, the tissue guard is still present for the frontispiece. The unfinished manuscript of the famed missionary and scholar Ernst Faber as edited by his devoted champion Pastor P. Kranz. A scarce book to the trade.
