This popular history first published 1643 with a catalogue of apologies for the improprieties or misinformation of past editions tells you this last edition is now a worthy and wise choice. Dibdin, calls Baker "versatile, but as I take it, of shallow parts; and yet, such was the popularity of his flimsy performance, that not fewer than eight editions of it went through the press after his death... LIBRARY COMPANION," pp. 192-194. WING B508. Foxing, browning and minor soiling to text, a few corners curled. Sympathetic and simple full modern brown morocco binding with raised bands in fine condition.
