London: Constable & Company, 1926. Cloth. Very Good +. A very solid copy of the 1926 1st edition. Clean and VG+ to Near Fine in its deep-blue cloth, with gilt-medallion portrait of James Christie (1730-1803) on the front panel and bright gilt-titling along the spine. Mild darkening to the spine (as is customary for this title), otherwise clean as coulld be and, internally, immaculate, with no wiriting or markings of any kind. Thick quarto, top-edge gilt, deckled fore and bottom-edges. Crisp black-and-white illustrations thruout.

Houghton Mifflin Company & Constable & Co.. Near Fine in Fair dust jacket. 1926. Hardcover. Dust jacket is worn at folds, with the front flap completely separated from the front cover. Lacking the backstrip of the jacket, jacket is now protected by fresh mylar sleeve. Book is in Near Fine condition, with just a couple of spots of wear to extremities of covers. Bound in blue cloth with bright gilt titles to spine; spine is unfaded. Top page ends are a bit soiled, fore-edge and bottom edge of pages are untrimmed. Contents are excellent; Binding is tight, pages are clean and unmarked. Includes 24 full-page illustrations, several of which are in full color. . History of the first 160 years of the Christie's auction house. A handsome copy. . Small 4to 9" - 11" tall. 311 pages. C7 .
