Paris: Au Comptoir Des Imprimeurs-Unis, 1845. [10], 415, [7] pp. 22 x 14 cm. Red quarter leather with marbled boards; gilt titling to spine. Some wear to head and tail of spine; rubbing to side of spine and extremities; some wear to tips. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown and also his name, place, and date written in blue ink at the head of the first blank page. Interior otherwise clean and bright. Binding firm. This book was previously owned by Samson B. Knoll, an Austrian-born and German-educated historian who was friends with Mildred Harnack, the American historian and German Resistance fighter who was the only American woman condemned to death by Hitler. A lovely copy with a fascinating provenance.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
