About This Item
Tokyo: Aoki Kozaburo, 1898. Four volumes bound with thread in traditional format; illustrations, some colored by hand; very good, in a wrap-around case with some exterior fading and foxing. Ownership signature of Lillian McGee. First published 1891, this being a later printing. Watanabe was was one of the earlier Japanese painters to visit Europe, winning a medal at the 1878 International Exhibition in Paris for his bird-and-flower paintings.
