First published in 2 volumes octavo in 1735, and again in 1744, this is the first edition in quarto, considerably improved and enlarged, pp. viii, plus unpaginated lexicon in double column; engraved frontispiece and 15 engraved plates; 20th-century quarter green morocco, the spine a bit discolored, else very good. With the bookplate of Wm. D. Tarrant, almost certainly the same Tarrant as the mayor of Wichita 1965-67, and the Gun Dog Editor for Field & Stream, and twice named Dog Writer of the Year by the Dog Writers Association of America. Terminology is alphabetically arranged throughout. Alston XVIII-4, 146 (erroneously identified as an octavo).

New York: Loring & Mussey, 1935. First edition, small 4to, pp. 79, [1]; illustrated throughout; a near fine copy in a very slightly chipped dust jacket. This copy inscribed by Mulholland to Carl Jones, the Minneapolis magician on the half-title: "For Carl W. Jones, this account of a few of his friends, Cordially, John Mulholland." Newspaper shadow over all the inscription except the signature.

Edition limited to 100 copies (this, no. 44), printed in red and black in Victor Hammer's American and Andromaque uncial types; 4to, pp. 10, [2], iv, vii, [1], 51, [7]; text printed in red and black throughout; with 21 woodcuts by Fritz Kredel; fine.
