A fascinating examination of traditional Chinese trade signs for merchants and professionals, including: clothing, tailors, shoes, noodles, cakes, wine, medicine, barbers, silver and a large fold-out of a Peking funeral procession. Decorative cream buckrum with gilt titles and red and gilt circular design on front board. 4to, 227 pp, spine and upper corners a little bumped, some light marking on spine and back board. Wonderful colored illustrations by Kent Crane, many highlighted in gilt. Very good overall. Internally perfect text and plates (102 illustrations, 48 color) very clean. No dust jacket. OCLC 2821675.
