Dust jacket has edge wear, creasing, a few tears, small bit of chipping and a larger 1/4 inch chip at top of spine. Some light rubbing wear at board edges and corners. Spine is slightly cocked. Interior bright, clean and unmarked. Binding tight. Colorful history of the White Sox, the influence of Charles Cominsky, and includes much on the 1919 "Black Sox."

Brown, as a sportswriter, is in the Baseball Hall of Fame, as an awardee of the 1972 Baseball Writers Association of America BBWAA Career Excellence Award (formerly the Spinks Award). He is properly credited with having called Red Grange "The Galloping Ghost", and Babe Ruth as "The Sultan of Swat". He wrote both of the books on the Chicago major league teams that appeared in Putnam's famed The Big League Library, "wholesome sports reading for baseball fans young and old."
