[4], v-xviii, 282, [2] pp. Orange cloth with blue and white lettering and three white rules on the spine. Price of $4.50 on front flap of jacket. Decorative endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated by several black and white photograph plates and a folding map in the rear. Includes a program from Chadron State College's celebration of Mari Sandoz Day in Nebraska, dated May 11, 1973. A Very Good book with toning and a bit of foxing to the textblock, a written mark of 'E 126' on the spine; dust jacket shows moderate edge wear and fading to the spine panel, with toning to the folds.


Records the struggles of the northern Cheyenne who battled the United States Cavalry in an effort to return to their Yellowstone homelands
