The author shows the policies of the Federal Government in its treatment of the Cherokees. While dealing with injustice and dishonesty, he shows how much was a series of blunders by incompetents. He writes of their removal and of the 4,000 that perished. This was one of the most highly intelligent tribes but that was not taken into account when the greed for their land was paramount. Bound in green cloth centrally stamped in gilt, spine lettering gilt, light wear to spine ends and corners, some off-setting to rear endpapers. A very good copy.
