London: Thornton Butterworth Limited, 1924. Very Good condition but for a couple tiny nicks to the fore-edge of the front cover. Waviness, but NO stain, to lower margin of several pages. SEE PHOTOS. Brief gift note on the half title page. Hinges are perfect. Pages are clean and unmarked with almost no foxing. 1924. Limited first edition, this being #176 of 750 numbered copies. With a tissue-guarded photographic frontispiece portrait (Sir Catchick Paul Chater, possibly hand signed), 3 folding maps in color and 261 pictures (many tissue-guarded), of which 18 in color (aquatints, mostly hand painted; colored engravings, also mostly hand painted; and chromo-lithographs). Index. Bound in the original bevel-edged dark green cloth, stamped in bright gold on the spine and front cover. Oversize Hardcover. 10.25" wide by 12.25" tall by 1.75" thick. This large, heavy book will require extra postage for Priority and International shipments, but only the standard charge for media mail. Complete with errata slip.. First Edition, #176/750.
