Boston, Mass: Goodspeed's Book Shop, 1935. Octavo. 18p. Specially printed by Goodspeed with advance copies bound with an original manuscript leaf provided by an bound by Judge Beals. These reminiscences of Charles Eliot Goodspeed (1887-1950) describe the various aspects of the world of serious book collecting ending with forgeries that he unhappily bought but openly explains how the was hoodwinked. This copy is inscribed to: Walter B. Beals, the noteworthy judge on the Supreme Court of Washington State as well as the Nazi Trials at the end of World War II and a collector of rare manuscripts and book. Goodspeed writes the following to him: "I am highly honored by the thought which prompted Judge Beals to place this unique binding on my jottings and that he has found them of sufficient interest to preserve them in this manner. With my best wishes to him for the interesting year, 1936 now before us I am, Cordially, Charles E. Goodspeed, Boston, Mass., December 24, 1935. The only other edition with the special vellum indenture binding is at the American Antiquarian Society.
