Cover and cloth clean, a few small pale scratches to rear board. Illustrated endpapers slightly tanned. In original very good color illustrated dust jacket, with a few nicks from the tail of the spine, a few closed tears to edges and light soil. Nineteenth of the Oz story books. A very nice example of a title in the very scarce dust jacket.

NY: Blue Ribbon Books, 1933. First edition. Fine. Hardcover/Near fine. Glazed pictorial boards printed in color. Pictorial endpapers in color. Four fabulous and detailed double-page pop-up scenes, plus full and partial page black & white illustrations throughout. The boards are ever so lightly soiled else this is a fine copy with fine pop-ups. The scarce dustwrapper is present; it lightly browned with age else near fine. A nice copy of an early Disney work.

Price-clipped, four yellowed tape repairs on recto across spine panel to front and rear panels, the uppermost extending almost the length of the rear panel, 1 1/2-inch wide chip at bottom of spine and rear panels, edge creasing and rubbing; contemporary gift inscription on front flyleaf. The rare first edition in scarce dust jacket. Few copies have survived in original dust wrapper or make it to the marketplace.

The First 2 years of the LONDON Publication of "The TALE of PETER RABBIT" have reference books about the various Printings/evolution of changes. I'm fascinated by it myself. Now, excluding the impossible First Private Printings in Late 1901 & Early 1902 from the realm of possibility for we mere mortals, the First few Original Warne Trade Printings are one of my joys to study - and even more to Find! Most collector's know that the First few Warne Printings (late 1902 - mid 1903) were done with patterned leaf end papers and had 97 pages with all illustrations in Color (Private Printings were B&W). The distinction between the printings was the Board Color. The last of these 4 printings changed "wept" to "shed". NOTE: NONE of These Printings had a COPYRIGHT DATE (on the rear of the Title Page)! Twelve Fables of Aesop narrated by Glenway Wescott, illustrated with 18 linoleum blocks by Antonio Frasconi, designed and printed in three colors (black, gray, and red) on Rives mould-made paper by Joseph Blumenthal at the Spiral Press, New York, from hand-set Emerson type and from the artist's original blocks. The edition is limited to 975 numbered copies and 25 lettered review copies, all signed by Mr. Frasconi, Mr. Wescott, and Mr. Blumenthal. This copy is one of the 25 lettered copies (copy number "F"). In addition to the other three signatures, it is signed by Monroe Wheeler. In 1935 Wheeler was employed by New York's Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).
