From the Library of Honorable Joseph H. Williams 1814-1896. August, 1897" on the front paste down. Old ink inscription on front paste down, "J H Williams L. U. M.? July 27th/72." J. H. Williams signature located on the title page. Light soil to the cloth binding. Case relates to United States claims against Britain for damages resulting from the Confederate raider ship "Alabama". The previous owner of this book, Joseph H. Williams, was the 27th Governor of Maine 1857-1858.
