New York: E. & H.T. Anthony, 1860. Original photograph. Very Good. Head-and-shoulders sepiatone portrait of General Stoneman in uniform, mounted to card stock as issued. Written in pencil below the image is "Genl. Stoneman" [not his signature]. Printed on the verso is: "Published by E. & H.T. Anthony / 501 Broadway / New York / logo / From Photographic Negative in Brady's National Portrait Gallery." Size: 3-11/16" x 2-5/8" Stoneman (1822-1894) was a US Cavalry officer, who roomed with Stonewall Jackson at West Point. He served as McClellan's adjutant in the War Between the States, fought under Hooker at Chancellorsville, and was captured while commanding Sherman's Cavalry in Georgia. After the War, he went to California and was elected Governor of the State, &c.
