At foot of title page is a 3.5 x 4.5 cm. label with engraving of a fortepiano, violin, and harp: "Sold at P. Hardt's Book & Music Store, York, Pa." No date of publication. George E. Blake (1775-1871) was a music publisher in Philadelphia from 1803 to 1860 or later, much of that time at the address given here, 13 S. 5th St. A monthly literary magazine, The Village Museum, was published by P. Hardt in York, Pa., from 1810 to 1814. This was probably the same Peter Hardt who was active as a printer in York from 1815 to 1819, and who published the York Recorder from 1818 to 1821. This was probably published between 1810 and 1819, most likely around 1810. Very scarce. In Very Good Condition: disbound; lightly soiled.

Ford, of full brown calf. Spine decorated with gilt bands and piping and floral centre pieces in the compartments. Black label, gilt. Both boards with decorative border design in gilt and small black labels within a decorative design, lettered "T. F. F. 1943". Inner dentelles in gilt. Plain magnolia endpapers. Top edge gilt. A small neat ink note inside the rear cover states that the book was 'rebound by T F Ford 1943' and a neat five line inscription on the front free end-paper shows that the book was bound by Thomas F Ford, Architect and presented by his sons to Canon L B Tirrell on his retirement in November 1971. ---- 'Thomas Francis Ford. True 1st printing in VG condition: flawless interior is bright and beautiful, decorative hardcover boards (no DJ issued) have rich color and sharp corners but spine extremities are bumped and have a small cut. Wraparound band is present and looks quite nice but has a closed tear on the rear. Overall a very attractive copy of a large heavy book and very scarce signed.
