Norman, (1970): University of Oklahoma Press. First Edition. Small Octavo. . 274pp., with a foreword by Katharine Bartlett, photo-illustrated. In 1902, the author was 19 years old. He traveled to the Four Corners country in the Southwest with a camera and a burning determination to capture" some Indians. Most of his subjects had seen very few white men. The camera frightened them. The camera was a magic box with an evil eye. They soon found it was harmless and the author had taken over a hundred photographs, some of those photographs were used to illustrate the book.. Bound in yellow pictorial cloth stamped and lettered in a foil brown, a fine copy in a nice dust jacket with minor spots of rubbing and small edge tear to upper edge.
