The first unabridged facsimile re-publication of 'Calligraphia Latina' by Johann George von Schwandner, Librarian of the Imperial Library of Vienna, originally published in 1756. The introduction and text are here translated into the English for the first time. The book presents a number of full ornamental alphabets as well as ornate calligraphic frames and panels, ornamental flourishes, calligraphic pictures, and 14 symbolic plates devoted to the major European monarchs of the day. The calligraphy is by Ferdinand von Freisleben. xiv + ca. 140 unpaginated pages; ca. 700 b&w illustrations; 9.25 x 13.25 inches.
